Endangered Productions was delighted to have David Goodwin as Orchestra Manager for our 2023 production It's So Last Century. As a member of Coro Austral David was involved as a performer in our 2022 production of Peer Gynt.
David has had extensive experience in arts administration, particularly in managing orchestras.
In the 1970s he was Manager of the Elizabethan Trust Sydney Orchestra, and in the early 1980s was Coordinator of the Elizabethan Orchestras. During the 1990s he was Manager of the Sydney Opera House Orchestra, a freelance orchestra that played for many of the Opera House productions, including Last Night of the Proms, New Year’s Eve and the Mostly Mozart concert series, as well as Bugs Bunny Live at the Sydney Opera House.
For the Festival of Sydney, he put together orchestras for productions that included All you Need is Beatles, conducted by Sir George Martin and featuring Human Nature, and concerts with Bernadette Peters, Al Jarreau, David Helfgott and Tommy Tycho. He also managed the orchestra for The New York Production of Porgy and Bess at the Capitol Theatre, and was engaged as manager of the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra for concerts in Sydney.
David has also been actively involved with community choirs and orchestras in Sydney. He was convenor of the 26th Intervarsity Choral Festival in 1975, and the SUMS (Sydney University Musical Society) Centenary Festival in 1978. He has performed with and been on the committees of Sydney Philharmonia Choirs, Macquarie University Singers and Ku-ring-gai Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been president of Bel a cappella and an organiser of five Australian Jewish Choral Festivals. He is the administrator of Coro Austral, founded by his partner, Margot McLaughlin, in 2010.
