While the arts are his first love, Gar's day job has provided him with a long and varied career in business and academia. His research and entrepreneurial skills are an asset to the board.
Gar Jones has worked in research management for almost three decades. He trained as an historian – studying at Monash University and Macquarie University.
His work focuses on research development and research strategy – working with individuals and teams on securing major external research funding and working with organisation's to review their research intensity and research excellence.
He has worked closely with organisations as diverse as the Young and Well Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) and the National Institute of Complementary Medicine (NICM), in both research development and governance capacities.
He has written for the theatre and reviews the performing arts at Words and Music.
